Industrial Style Wardrobe

The design concept of the post-modern industrial style wardrobe emphasizes the metaphor of form, symbolism, culture, and the decoration of history. Postmodern wardrobe design incorporates many metaphorical visual symbols, highlighting historical and cultural aspects while affirming the symbolic role of decoration in visual appeal. Decoration is reintroduced into interior design, with new awareness and techniques. The expansion of space, created through the interplay of light, shadow, and architectural components, has become a key element in large-scale decoration. The post-modern design movement provides a diverse environment that encourages the fusion of various styles, allowing different styles to coexist. This shared relationship is closely aligned with the meaning and habits of the occupants.

What is an Industrial-style Wardrobe Closet & Armoire?

From the perspective of building materials, most industrial-style wardrobes retain part of their original appearance. For example, the walls are left bare without decoration, or are decorated with brick designs or paint, or replaced with concrete. The beams are left rusted, giving them a dilapidated look. Industrial-style décor is closely associated with metal, but metal furniture can be too cold on its own, so it is often paired with wood or leather elements. Log furniture is also common in industrial style, particularly aged wood, which adds more texture.

The bedroom wardrobe should be positioned to avoid interfering with the swing of the bedroom door, preventing the wardrobe from obstructing the door and ensuring smooth movement in the room. The window is the primary source of natural light in the space, and the height of the wardrobe is typically more than 2 meters. If the wardrobe is placed next to the window, it may block the natural light, so the wardrobe should not be positioned against the wall with the window. Sufficient space is needed for movement when opening the wardrobe and arranging clothes. Therefore, a clearance of 60-70 cm should be left between the bed and the wardrobe to ensure it does not obstruct daily traffic or interfere with the opening of the wardrobe door, making the industrial-style wardrobe more functional.

We often see this in many industrial-style décor renderings: the wardrobe design is unique, with some featuring brick elements and leaving the surface untouched—without any wall decoration or paint. Instead, the original, unfinished surface is exposed, and the beams are left rusty and dilapidated. This raw, unfinished aesthetic is one of the key design elements of industrial-style wardrobes. The worn texture is also the defining characteristic of this style.
